squawk!

Yesterday morning Eric and I had brunch at a cute little cafe down the road from Erics sweet new pad, called Thelma & Louise. I had the Berry and Ricotta Crepes and E had Eggs Benedict with Bacon. Yum. The service was very friendly and humble too.
Great way to start the day.
p.s. I hate seagulls.

yes prease

I really have to start using my real camera, these iphone ones are a bit sad.

Tonight Lo and I went to Thai Riffic in Newtown... The last time I was here it was a hot summers night and I sat in the courtyard with the hanging bird cage lights. Tonight was freeeeezing so we sat inside.  I  had never noticed how big the inside area was- Two big feature lights and lots of spacious tables.
I ordered my favourite- Pad See Ewe. It was great, just as I remembered, though they could've held back on the pepper a bit.

i'm all for tarts

Check this out.. I made a Pear & Rhubarb tart this morning.
It makes for a great up-late-working snack, though my keys are quite sticky now. Whoops!

dirty birdy

My semester has been full of model making and my poor poor room has suffered- it honestly looks like a hurricane hit it. So, during my break I will be removing the rubble. This light is my motivation... Rubble out, birdy in!

UP

I have a new 'thing'- Balloons. I love them!
The party shop in Glebe (sorry, can't remember the name) has the most amazing selection of balloons. A little random but I recommend getting a balloon, it will seriously put a smile on your face.

Ok, I'm getting a bit impatient now so I'm going to cram a few things together...
At the top we have Bella Chocolate and Balsamic and Strawberry gelato from Cow & Moon. One of my top Gelato places at the moment- on par with Messina, I'd say.
The two pictures below were taken at Ampersand cafe in Paddington, only recently I discovered a whole other world to it... upstairs! It's very cute and cozy.
Next we have the Ginger Ninja Kane got my from Blackstar Pastry, who won the SMH best patisserie cafe award- can't say I agree with this.
Moving on, lucky last we have Luxe in Newtown. I have to say I love this photo, can you believe it was taken with an iPhone? Crazy. Great atmosphere, especially if you get a spot next to the window... I had the Vanilla tea and a pain au chocolat, tea was nice but the pain had a texture of what Luxe is better known for... bread.

So, that's my smushed update on where I've been lately!

grazer

Saw this in a magazine. I need this, from Graze

Topshop Fall

Topshop's Fall boots. I'm a fan.
I'll take everything but the pumps at the bottom and the zebra thank you very much!

hehe

What I saw today...

iggy Pop

A couple of weeks ago my brother and I visited Iggy's in Bronte. This Massachusetts moved Sydney bakery was definitely not what I expected. Even after I got there and stood in the ever growing line I wasn't sure I was at the right place. No signage and barely a service counter, the only thing assuring me was the smell of gorgeous gorgeous bread. Just so you get an idea- that picture at the top was taken at 8.30am. It was rumoured that all the sour dough sells out before 9am so we made sure we got there early. After a quick wait to the front of the line we found out that they'd sold out! So we settled for the Rye.
Now let me tell you, this bread was fantastic. Peppery with an aniseed finish. The crust was firm but easily gave way to the super light textures waiting inside... Ah! Can't wait to go back.

wet paint

It was my birthday on Saturday and to celebrate we had dinner at Wet Paint in Bronte. As quoted, "a melting pot of modern Australian with Creole influences", a pretty spot on description to me.
We started with the Spaezle with Rabbit and the Aubergine Crabcakes- which were both amazing and definitely got me going. For mains I had the much talked about Louisiana Stuffed Chicken which was a tad on the dry side but the flavours pretty much made up for that. Service was 6/10, extremely friendly to start but the waitstaff were pretty absent for the remainder.
As pictured above, dessert was chai pannacotta, mixed berry marzipan tart and a lime frangelico creme brulee. All three... tasted as good as they looked.
